Tribal families of Panwada Village in hope of getting their land back
At last, the years of struggle to get justice from the administration are ending. The villagers of Panwada in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh are now the privileged ones as compared to their counterparts fighting against the people with money and muscle power on one hand and the administration on the other. The district administration has become active in issuing land entitlements to 30 tribal families whose land was taken away and given to Sardars from Rajasthan and Punjab. For the last ten years, Ekta Parishad has been working among the tribals of Panwada Village. The tribals, with the support of Ekta Parishad, had submitted Memorandums on the incidents to SDM and the District Collector a number of times, and finally, the administration has opened their eyes in favour of the tribals. The Sardars used muscle power to threaten the tribals and money to influence the officials. The activists of Ekta Parishad supported the tribal families in filing petitions against the injustices happening to the poor families. Now the ADM has issued notices to the Sardars who managed to acquire entitlements illegally. The media had reported the incident in October 2010.
